The stock of relief goods at the Emergency Relief Cell working under Cabinet Division has ended due to shortage of funds.

According to sources the Directorate of Emergency Relief Cell must have 20,000 blankets, 20,000 standard tents and 40,000 sleeping mats every moment in its stock to meet any emergency situation.

The sources confirmed to ‘The News’ on condition of anonymity that due to shortage of funds it was not possible for the authorities to buy new stock items that are very necessary for the Emergency Relief Cell.

The sources told ‘The News’ that the previous stock was utilised during the recent flood relief activities and after that new purchases have not been made due to shortage of funds.

When ‘The News’ contacted Emergency Relief Cell Director General Abdul Majeed Bulghari said, “We are trying to fill the stock as soon as possible.” He said that the Emergency Relief Cell works under a proper mechanism and the specific quantity of the relief commodities are essential for maintaining the stock. Bulghari also admitted the fact that there was shortage of funds and as soon as the funds were released by concerned authorities they will revitalise their stock
